AAPA President, Jeffrey Katz, Discusses the NCCPA’s Proposed Recertification Requirements

Jeffrey Katz, PA-C, DFAAPA, President of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) sat down with Dermcast host Martha Sikes, MS, RPh, PA-C, at the SDPA’s recent Annual Summer Dermatology Conference (2016) in Austin, Texas, to discuss the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants’ (NCCPA) proposed changes to the recertification requirements. Mr. Katz explains the AAPA’s position on the proposed changes and what actions they’ve taken to voice their concerns.

“… we’ve always said we’re (PAs) the stem cells of health care; that we can actually go to where we are needed at the time and we really feel that it’s (the NCCPA’s proposed recertification requirements) going to pigeonhole us into a specialty and it will take away that flexibility which we feel is really very important to the profession…”
