AAD Rebuts Misleading New York Times Article
Recently an article was printed in the New York Times as part of their series on the US healthcare system called “Paying Until It Hurts.” The article, part six of the series, was called “Patients’ Costs Skyrocket; Specialists’ Incomes Soar,” and it focused heavily on dermatologists and Mohs surgery.
The SDPA feels that the article was misleading and contained one-sided information. However, your patients may have read the article and may come to you with questions. The AAD has already written a rebuttal to the New York Times. The SDPA also plans to reply to the New York Times article; we will work with the AAD and ACMS on any further response.
We ask that you please read the article and be familiar with it in case patients ask about it. You may also want to familiarize yourself with the response by the AAD.
You can access the original New York Times article here.
Please let us know if you have concerns and always remember that any response we give will be factual and measured so as to be beyond reproach.
